Storage as Wires

In this Clean Energy States Alliance webinar, speakers from Customized Energy Solutions (CES) and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) discussed storage-as-wires solutions and successful deployments. Panelists discussed the Western Grid proceeding, FERC policy statement from 2017, and the recent FERC proceedings for storage-as-transmission in MISO. John Fernandes from CES covered the impacts on ISOs/RTOs as well as on a range of non-markets. Ariel Horowitz from MassCEC discussed Massachusetts’ projects as well as the policy and regulatory structures supporting storage deployment. Panelists also discussed benefits, gaps, and risks associated with storage-as-wires solutions.
