Maria Blais Costello

Grants and Publications Director

Maria Blais Costello serves as the Grants and Publications Director for Clean Energy Group and the Clean Energy States Alliance (CESA) in a part-time position after more than 20 years at both organizations. Maria assists both organizations with development (fundraising and grant reporting) and advises on communications strategies. She provides copy editing support and coordinates the design and production of major publications, with a focus on quality control and branding. Prior to 2025, Maria served as the Director of Program Administration and as the Corporate Secretary for both CEG and CESA. Early in her career, Maria worked at the Conservation Law Foundation as the office manager for the Vermont office. She holds a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Economics from the University of New Hampshire. Maria volunteers with Youth First Mentoring, a local program that pairs community members with young people to explore their interests, learn new skills, build confidence and resilience, and prepare for their futures as caring, responsible, and productive members of their community. She and her husband, Paul, reside in Montpelier, VT in a home powered by community solar and heated with an air source heat pump; they also have an all-electric vehicle. Maria enjoys traveling, photography, hiking, skiing, canoeing, and paddle boarding with family and friends.
