FERC 841 Compliance Update
October 1, 2019 @ 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM ET
In this webinar, guest speakers from the Energy Storage Association and Wood Mackenzie Power and Renewables discussed FERC 841 compliance progress among the nation’s ISOs and RTOs. FERC Order 841 requires that these independent grid operators update market rules and regulations to allow energy storage to participate in wholesale energy and energy services markets, taking into account its unique operational characteristics. It was anticipated that this order would create vast new markets for energy storage… but is the reality of 841 living up to its promise? Panelists looked at how various grid operators are moving to comply with the order, what that could mean for storage markets, and what barriers still remain.
Panelists:
- Jason Burwen, Energy Storage Association
- Dan Finn-Foley, Wood Mackenzie Power and Renewables
- Todd Olinsky-Paul, Clean Energy States Alliance (moderator)
This webinar was a presentation of the Energy Storage Technology Advancement Partnership (ESTAP). ESTAP is a federal-state funding and information sharing project that aims to accelerate the deployment of electrical energy storage technologies in the U.S. ESTAP is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Electricity, managed by Sandia National Laboratories, and administered by the Clean Energy States Alliance.
